Social Assistance
DO YOU QUALIFY FOR SOCIAL ASSISTANCE IN ONTARIO?

The online Eligibility Estimator is a quick and easy way for you to calculate whether or not you may qualify for financial assistance under Ontario’s two social assistance programs:

  • Ontario Works
  • Ontario Disability Support Program

What you need before you start

Before you begin, you will need to have income, assets and living arrangement information that reflects your current situation such as:

  • the age of each member of your family
  • how much you pay for housing, such as rent, mortgage, utilities
  • your family’s monthly income
  • the value of your family’s assets

You don’t need to enter any personal information such as your name or address. The eligibility estimator is only a tool that helps you figure out if you could be eligible for financial assistance. Once you exit the estimator, all information is removed.

The estimator will not be able to provide an accurate result if you are:

  • self-employed
  • a student living at home
  • living in a correctional facility
  • not an Ontario resident
  • under 18 years old
  • permanently living in residential care, a nursing home or a hospital.
